Today we received an urgent tech. support request from one of Pakistan user. The drive ST2000VM003-1ET164 can be detected by the traditional hard drive data recovery device, ID/Capacity/SN and all other information are showing correctly. Also it can be scanned smoothly, but unable to see the file directory under file extraction program.
Patient drive: ST2000VM003-1ET164 SN: W7212M6A
Firmware: SC11 Capacity: 2TB
User suspects that the drive has firmware issue. But according to our conversation, we learned that in fact, this is a drive from HIKVISION DVR system. That is why the data cannot be recovered by using the traditional professional HDD recovery solution.
As we know the traditional HDD comes with the known file systems, such as Windows FAT12/FAT16/FAT32/exFAT/NTFS/Refs/ISO9660, or the Linux system ext2/ext3/ext4, Unix UFS1/UFS2 and etc. But DVR data recovery is a different story or situation, most of DVR HDDs or SD cards have their own proprietary file systems, such as DHFS (Dahua) file system，HIKVISION file system. These are two popular DVR systems in worldwide market; their DVR drives were built with their own proprietary file systems.
We sent the user our latest DVR trial program for test. The installation is easy and simple. After 1 minute installation, we open the program, all of the channels/cameras are listed out completely, and all video files are showing up.
We Dolphin officially released the DVR/CCTV program last month. Compared with other similar product available in market, DFL DVR program work faster and has higher data recovery success rate. In the meanwhile, over 65 surveillance file system is supported now.
Free remote support is also available, even for trial version user; pls feel free to let us know if you need any help in using the program, we would be happy to help. On the other hand, if you find any file system which is not supported yet, our R&D can analysis and get it done in 1 or 2 days.
